On December 26, 2025, a scene of intense activity unfolded at the Jiuli Grand Bridge T-beam installation site for the Maoping Port Rail Line, part of the Three Gorges Hub project in Zigui County, Yichang City, Hube Province, located within the Three Gorges Reservoir area. The Maoping Port Rail Line, which originates from the western end of Yichang South Station on the Yiwan Railway and terminates at Maoping Port in Zigui County, spans a total length of 39.59 kilometers and is being constructed according to the National Railway Class III standards. Upon its completion, this railway will work in conjunction with the South Yangtze River Expressway and the North Yangtze River Expressway, both part of the Three Gorges ship-lock bypass system, to establish a comprehensive "multimodal transport" network integrating waterway, highway, and railway systems along the Yangtze River Three Gorges. This integrated system is designed to enhance the efficiency of water-to-land transshipment for vessels bypassing the Three Gorges dam and alleviate the navigational load on the Three Gorges ship locks.
