Several US senators have announced an agreement to move forward with updated sanctions legislation targeting Russia, specifically aimed at imposing significant penalties on purchasers of Russian oil and gas.
A joint statement released on social media platform X by Senators Richard Blumenthal, Lindsey Graham, Jeanne Shaheen, and Roger Wicker stated, "We have reached an agreement with the Trump administration to advance our updated Russian sanctions legislation."
The statement further emphasized that both the legislative and executive branches must collaborate to develop the necessary tools to ensure those who buy Russian oil and gas pay a heavy price.
