The parade of second-quarter results continues this week. No fewer than 143 S&P 500 companies are on deck to report, in addition to hundreds of small caps. Ferrari, Vornado Realty Trust, Take-Two Interactive Software, and Simon Property Group will get the ball rolling on Monday. Then Lyft, Alibaba Group Holding, Nikola, Under Armour, Eli Lilly, and ConocoPhillips release their results on Tuesday.
Wednesday will be particularly busy:General Motors,Uber Technologies,Etsy,Electronic Arts,Western Digital,Roku,CVS Health,Kraft Heinz, and SoftBank all report.Beyond Meat,Yelp,Wayfair, Moderna, and ViacomCBS go on Thursday and DraftKings,Canopy Growth,and Tripadvisor will close the week on Friday.Chinese Education Corporation New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. and TAL Education Group cancels scheduled earnings release and earnings call.
The highlight on the economic calendar this week will be Jobs Friday. The Bureau of Labor Statistics is expected to show a gain of 625,000 nonfarm payrolls in July, following June’s 850,000. The unemployment rate is seen holding just below 6%.
Other data out this week include the Institute for Supply Management’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index for July on Monday, followed by the Services equivalent on Wednesday. Both measures of economic activity are forecast to come in at around 61, which would signify strong expansion.

GE stock will open for trading Monday at about $104 a share, after closing Friday at $12.95. The company completed its 1-for-8 reverse stock split Friday evening.
The Institute for Supply Management releases its Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index for July. Consensus estimate is for a 60.8 reading, up from 60.6 in June.
The Census Bureau reports construction spending for June. Expectations are for a 0.4% month-over-month rise, after a 0.3% decline in May.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis reports light-vehicle sales for July. Expectations call for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 15.3 million vehicles, versus 15.4 million in June.
The ISM releases its Services PMI for July. Consensus estimate is for a 60.8 reading, compared with June’s 60.1.
ADP releases its National Employment report for July. Consensus estimate is for a 635,000 gain in nonfarm private-sector employment, following an increase of 692,000 in June.
