Taobao Tmall to Launch AI Fake Image Detection Model to Combat AI-Generated Refund Scams

Deep News01-22 12:33

Taobao Tmall has announced a zero-tolerance policy towards AI-generated fake images, initiating a special campaign to address post-sale AI image fraud. The platform is set to launch an AI fake image detection model, providing merchants with a one-click verification feature. This model will be progressively integrated into channels for dispute resolution, refund processing, and appeals, achieving an identification accuracy rate exceeding 95% during its training phase.

The platform has already opened a feedback entry point. Within the Wangwang chat system, for ongoing refund requests, merchants can now use a one-click feedback function to report suspicious images that appear to be AI-generated, AI-processed, or digitally altered. Once such a report is verified, it will directly influence the final ruling of the case.

In 2026, Taobao Tmall is further intensifying its efforts to optimize the business environment by refining dispute resolution standards for various industries and specific scenarios. Initiatives include the launch of a mutual trust mechanism for handling non-compliant returns, the deployment of the post-sale AI fake image detection model, and enhancements to the account credibility system and the shop authenticity experience score. These multi-pronged measures are designed to support service-oriented merchants in achieving stable and predictable growth.
