Tesla Recalls 107,293 Model 3 and Model Y in China

Tiger Newspress2022-05-16

Recently, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the China Administration of market supervision and administration. Since May 23, 2022, 107,293 domestic Model 3 and Model y electric vehicles with production dates from October 19, 2021 to April 26, 2022 have been recalled.

When some vehicles within the scope of this recall are preparing for DC fast charging or during DC fast charging, the central processor of the infotainment system may not be cooled sufficiently, resulting in the slow running speed of the central processor and the slow display of the central touch screen. In serious cases, the central processor may restart, resulting in the failure of the display. When the above faults occur, the reversing image, the setting of windshield (defrosting, defogging and wiper) functions, driving gear display and indicator lights will not work normally. In extreme cases, it will increase the risk of vehicle collision accidents and have potential safety hazards.

Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will upgrade the vehicles within the recall scope to 2022.12.3.3 or later versions of software free of charge through vehicle remote upgrade (OTA) technology. The upgraded vehicles will alleviate the rise of CPU temperature when preparing for DC fast charging or during DC fast charging, so as to prevent its running speed from slowing down or restarting. For vehicles that cannot be recalled through OTA technology, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will contact relevant users through Tesla service center to upgrade software for vehicles free of charge, so as to eliminate potential safety hazards.

OTA software updates are not recalls. When will people learn to differentiate OTA updates from the physical recalls of normal ICE manufacturers? [Speechless]

$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$omg what "horrible" news, please sell/short this stock! Something that can be solved via an over the air update is also considered as a recall? [Chuckle]

Hmm... Focus on the fundamentals. Don't allow short term news to affect your investment decisions. Cheers.
