China Eastern Airlines, Boeing fell 9% and 5% separately in morning trading.

A China Eastern Airlines aircraft on Monday carrying 133 passengers from Kunming to Guangzhou had an "accident" in the region of Guangxi and caused a fire on the mountains, Chinese state television reported.

The jet involved in the accident was a Boeing 737 aircraft and the number of casualties was not immediately known, CCTV said. Rescue was on its way, it said.

    Saw the sad news that China ended a record of 4,227 safe flight days in the history of civil aviation worldwide after a China Eastern Boeing 737 with 132 people onboard crashed Monday afternoon in South China's Guangxi. A resident surnamed Li told Beijing Youth Daily that he saw the plane fell vertically from the sky. Flight data from information provider VariFlight showed the plane cruising at an altitude of about 8,869 meters after it took off from Kunming airport. At 2:19 pm, the aircraft suddenly descended from cruising altitude. Judging from the flight data, there is no information to indicate that the pilot made any contact with ground control.     The loss in altitude was so fast, must be a terrible dive... hope the passengers had lost consciousness before the horrors of the impact hit. Really sad day for the victims and their families... Deepest condolences to the families...
