HSBC Holdings plc (HSBC) disclosed that on 11 August 2026 it acquired a combined 1.84 million ordinary shares—1.34 million on UK trading venues and 0.50 million on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange—as part of the share-buy-back programme announced on 5 August 2026.
On UK venues, HSBC bought 1.34 million shares at prices ranging from £15.2220 to £15.4120, with a volume-weighted average price of £15.3194. In Hong Kong, 498,800 shares were repurchased at between HK$161.7000 and HK$162.7000, producing a volume-weighted average of HK$162.1215.
Cumulatively, the bank has now retired 2.96 million shares since the start of the programme, at an aggregate consideration of US$61.00 million. Following the cancellation of the shares bought on UK venues, HSBC’s issued ordinary share capital and total voting rights stand at 17,182.22 million shares. Shares repurchased in Hong Kong will be cancelled upon completion of local settlement procedures, after which an updated share-count announcement will be released.
All UK acquisitions were executed as on-exchange market purchases, while Hong Kong transactions were classified as off-market under UK law but on-exchange under Hong Kong listing rules. The trades were conducted by BNP Paribas Financial Markets SNC on HSBC’s behalf.
