What's Going On With Palantir Stock Monday?

Benzinga05-06

Palantir Technologies Inc (NYSE:PLTR) shares are in the spotlight Monday ahead of earnings. Here’s what you need to know.

What To Know: Palantir is due to report first-quarter financial results after the market close on Monday. The company is expected to report earnings of 8 cents per share on quarterly revenue of $625.431 million, according to Benzinga Pro.

Ahead of the print, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives reiterated Palantir with an Outperform and price target of $35, as he anticipates another solid quarter from the AI data company, driven by strength in the company’s U.S. commercial business.

“The big focus tonight will be hearing about AIP customer conversion, US commercial strength momentum, and the trajectory of larger deals in the pipeline,” Ives said in a new note to clients.

Last quarter, Palantir beat analyst estimates as commercial revenue grew 32% year-over-year driven by a 70% year-over-year increase in U.S. commercial. At the time, Palantir said it expected first-quarter revenue to be between $612 million and $616 million and first-quarter adjusted income from operations to be between $196 million and $200 million.

Palantir also guided for full-year 2024 revenue of $2.652 billion to $2.668 billion and said it anticipates achieving GAAP net income in each quarter of 2024.

Is PLTR A Good Stock To Buy?

An investor can make a few decisions when deciding whether a stock is a good buy. In addition to valuation metrics and price action which you can find on Benzinga's quote pages – like Palantir‘s page for example – there are factors like whether or not a company pays a dividend or buys a large portion of its stock each quarter.

These are known as capital allocation programs. Palantir does not pay a dividend, but obviously has a few ways it can return value to shareholders. Feel free to search Benzinga's dividend calendar for the next company that is due to pay a dividend and determine what kind of yield you can earn for holding a share of the company.

Buyback programs are obviously different and highly variable. A company can approve a buyback program and purchase shares as it sees fit over the course of time in which the buyback was authorized. Looking through the latest news on Palantir will often yield whether or not the company has approved a buyback program recently. Buyback programs usually serve as a support for share prices, serving as a backstop for demand.

PLTR Price Action: Palantir shares were up 4.51% at $24.39 at the time of publication, according to Benzinga Pro.
