** Shares of major U.S. automakers up after the Federal Reserve's first interest rate cut in more than four years

** General Motors up ~3% at $49.01, Ford up ~2.5% at $11.17, U.S.-listed shares of Stellantis up 2.3% at $15.45

** Buyers in the market for new vehicles were awaiting the Fed's highly anticipated rate in hopes of better deals, financing options from dealers

** YTD, GM up ~35%, F down ~8.5%, STLAM down ~35%
