Bitcoin prices held above $72,000 Wednesday, after rallying this week to the highest since March's all-time record.
-- The cryptocurrency stood at around $72,460 in recent trading, having surged through Monday and Tuesday.
-- It reached an all-time high of $73,462.59 on March 13, based on 4 p.m. ET levels, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
-- On Tuesday, bitcoin traded above that level, as high as $73,595, before paring back later in the day.
Bitcoin is increasingly viewed as a "Trump trade" since the Republican presidential candidate pivoted to embrace crypto as part of his agenda. Donald Trump has vowed to make the U.S. the "crypto capital of the planet."
Betting platforms such as Polymarket currently have Trump's odds of winning above 60%. A Wall Street Journal poll last week showed Trump had opened a narrow lead in the race.
