POLITICS
Italy urged the European Union on Thursday to guarantee bond issuance needed to finance defence, saying a NATO spending target of at least 2% of gross domestic product $(GDP)$ by 2028 clashed with the EU's revamped fiscal rules.
Italy has extended its domestic tax on digital services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to try to overcome U.S. objections that the levy is discriminatory, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Thursday.
Economy minister Giorgetti said it would be good to have a meeting with Lufthansa LHAG.DE CEO Carsten Spohr at the weekend to overcome a dispute regarding the sale of a minority stake in state owned ITA Airways.

Treasury offers up to 3.0 billion euros following two CCTeu bonds due Oct. 15, 2028 and Oct. 15, 2030 in exchange of following four BTP bonds: 1.85% due July 1, 2025; 1.20% due Aug. 15, 2025; zero coupone due April 1, 2026; zero coupon due Aug. 1, 2026.
Treasury announces sale of BTP bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on Nov. 13.

Italian tyre maker Pirelli said its operating profit rose more than expected in the third quarter, thanks to growing volumes, product mix and efficiencies.

Brembo's acquisition of suspension technology manufacturer Ohlins Racing, its biggest ever, will not prevent the Italian premium brake maker from assessing further and larger M&A deals, its top executive said on Thursday.

Italian asset manager Azimut Holding AZMT.MI has raised its 2024 net profit guidance to 550-600 million euros ($594-648 million) from its previous estimate of 500 million euros, its Chairman Pietro Giuliani said in a statement on Thursday.

Italian bank Banca Mediolanum posted an 18% jumpin nine-month net profit to 674.3 million euros, the bank said on Thursday, but trimmed its 2024 net interest income (NII) guidance, citing easing interest rates.
