Several economic releases give us an update on the state of the housing market. On Monday, the National Association of Home Builders releases its Housing Market Index for November. On Tuesday, the Census Bureau reports new residential construction data for October. Economists forecast a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.34 million housing starts, about even with September. On Thursday, the National Association of Realtors reports existing-home sales for October. Consensus estimate is for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.93 million homes sold, slightly more than in September.
Tuesday 11/19
Third-quarter earnings season winds down, with more than 85% of S&P 500 companies having already reported results. The week's highlight is Nvidia's earnings, which will be released after the market close on Wednesday. Retailers Lowe's and Walmart announce results on Tuesday, then Palo Alto Networks, Target, and TJX Cos. on Wednesday. Deere and Intuit hold conference calls to discuss quarterly results on Thursday.
Friday 11/22
S&P Global releases its Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index for November. Expectations are for a 48 reading, half a point less than in October.
