The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) was down 0.03% and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) retreated 0.2% in Monday's premarket activity, as investors await crucial inflation data due this week.
US stock futures were mixed, with S&P 500 Index futures down 0.03%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gaining 0.02%, and Nasdaq futures losing 0.2% before the start of regular trading.
The wholesale inventories bulletin for October will be released at 10 am ET.
In premarket activity, bitcoin was down 1.6% and the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) was 3.1% lower.

Consumer
The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was up 0.1%, while the Vanguard Consumer Staples Fund (VDC) was flat. The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF (IYK) was inactive, and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) gained 0.5%. The VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was inactive, while the SPDR S&P Retail ETF (XRT) advanced 0.1%.
Medirom Healthcare Technologies (MRM) shares were up more than 47% pre-bell after the company said its subsidiary Medirom Mother Labs has received orders for over 25,000 units of its smart tracker device, MOTHER Bracelet.

Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) retreated 0.3%, and the iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) was 0.3% lower, while the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) was up 0.02%. Among semiconductor ETFs, SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) was inactive, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) fell by 0.7%.
Palantir Technologies (PLTR) shares were up more than 7% in recent Monday premarket activity after the company said it has agreed to a one-year, $36.8 million extension of its contract to deliver IT support and services to the US Special Operations Command.
Health Care
The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) advanced 0.1%. The Vanguard Health Care Index Fund (VHT) was flat while the iShares US Healthcare ETF (IYH) was inactive. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was marginally higher by 0.04%.
Beam Therapeutics (BEAM) stock was up more than 6% premarket after the company said Sunday new data for its engineered stem cell antibody evasion conditioning platform showed that conditioning and in vivo selection with an anti-CD117 antibody allowed engraftment of base-edited hematopoietic stem cells in a non-human primate model.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) advanced 0.2%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 0.4%, while its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 0.7% lower.
Apollo Global Management (APO) shares were up nearly 6% pre-bell Monday after the company said it has teamed up with Santander (SAN) for a $370 million investment in infrastructure financing. Santander stock was up 0.6% premarket.
Energy
The iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) gained 0.02%, while the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) was up by 0.1%.
BP (BP) stock was up more than 4% before Monday's opening bell after the company and Japanese power generation company Jera said they are forming Jera Nex bp, a London-based joint venture to integrate their offshore wind businesses.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLI) advanced 0.3% and the Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) was inactive, while the iShares US Industrials ETF (IYJ) rose 1.4%.
Bowman Consulting Group (BWMN) stock was up 2.5% before the opening bell after the company said that J. Ranck Electric chose the company to lead a 64-megawatt solar project in Southeast Michigan.
Commodities
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell 1.3% to $68.09 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas rose 4.7% to $3.22 per 1 million British Thermal Units. United States Oil Fund (USO) advanced by 1.2%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) advanced by 3.2%.
Gold futures for February advanced 0.7% to $2,677.90 an ounce on the Comex, while silver futures gained 2.2% to $32.28 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) increased by 1.7%, while the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was 2.3% higher.
