BRUSSELS, April 9 (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Wednesday it had secured backing from EU countries and would press ahead with a first set of countermeasures from April 15 against U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminium.
The European Union is set to impose extra duties mostly of 25% on a range of U.S. imports in response specifically to the U.S. metals tariffs. It is still assessing how to respond to the car and broader levies.
