Tullow Oil and its partners at two Ghanian oil fields signed an agreement with the government of Ghana to extend production licenses through to 2040.
The London-listed oil company said Wednesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding to extend the West Cape Three Points and Deep Water Tano licenses, and to drill up to 20 additional wells. The licenses cover the Jubilee and TEN oil fields, it said.
The additional wells will be located in the Jubilee Field and represent an investment of up to $2 billion over the life of the licenses. They are expected to deliver a material increase in reserves.
The agreement also include a commitment to increase gas supply from the fields to around 130 million standard cubic feet a day, Tullow said.
Tullow Oil expects all approvals for the license extensions before the end of the third quarter of 2025.
The agreement was also signed by Kosmos Energy, PetroSA, the Ghana National Petroleum Corp. and Explorco.
