ANKARA, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 traded at 43.0550 against the U.S. dollar at 0112 GMT, after closing at 43.0270 on Wednesday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 ended Wednesday 0.04% higher at 12,028.84 points.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Oil prices steadied on Thursday after their recent slide, while stocks were off to a rocky start as investors assessed the implications of deepening geopolitical tensions and mixed U.S. labour market data.
FOREIGN MINISTER
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will hold talks with Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi in Ankara. The two are expected to hold a joint news conference after their talks.
TRADE MINISTER
Trade Minister Omer Bolat will attend a Turkey-UK Joint Economic and Trade Committee meeting in London.
TRANSPORT MINISTER
Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will attend a groundbreaking ceremony by Turkish Airlines in Istanbul (0800 GMT).
OPPOSITION
Main opposition CHP leader Ozgur Ozel will chair a party assembly meeting of his party in Ankara (1030 GMT).
CENTRAL BANK WEEKLY DATA TRNFR=ECI
The Central Bank will announce its weekly money and banking statistics (1100 GMT).
CASH BALANCE TRCASH=ECI
The Treasury will announce its cash balance for December (1430 GMT).
CENTRAL BANK GOVERNOR
Turkish Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan said on Wednesday that both short-term indicators and the medium-term outlook show that disinflation is ongoing and will continue, according to the text of a presentation made in Istanbul.
DONGFENG
China's Dongfeng Motor 0489.HK is in talks with an investor about producing passenger cars in Turkey, the company's Turkish distributor said.
