Wells Fargo Recruits $1.2 Billion Advisory Team From Citigroup -- Barrons.com

Dow Jones01-07

By Kenneth Corbin

Wells Fargo has recruited an advisory duo in Texas managing $1.2 billion in client assets. Paul Cooke and Jake Trousdale have joined Wells Fargo's Private Client Group in Dallas.

They moved to Wells Fargo from Citi Private Bank, which declined to comment on the departure.

The move comes amid a reorganization within Citigroup that will see a new CFO take over in March and the firm's retail banking operations be consolidated and organized within the wealth business, headed by Andy Sieg.

For Wells Fargo, the recruiting win brings in a pair of seasoned advisors serving high-net-worth and ultrahigh-net-worth clients.

Cooke is a 33-year industry veteran who entered the brokerage sector in 1991 with the now-defunct Principal/Eppler, Guerin & Turner. He later had stints at SunAmerica Securities, Raymond James, RBC Capital Markets, and J.P. Morgan Securities before joining Citigroup in 2013.

Trousdale got his start in 2003 with J.P. Morgan Securities and joined Citigroup in 2013. The team also includes Debbie Cornwell, a support staffer.

They joined Wells Fargo on Dec. 22, but the firm announced the move on Monday.

Chris Gerrish, Wells Fargo's Mid-America market leader, says he expects the team to flourish with the support they will receive from the firm.

"With the breadth of our private wealth capabilities behind them, paired with comprehensive resources and specialist support, they'll bring clients a coordinated, high-touch experience," he says. "We're excited to have them on board and to support their continued success."
