U.S. Defense Stocks Gain Premarket on Maduro Capture -- Market Talk
Dow Jones01-05
1058 GMT - U.S. defense stocks gain premarket--following their European peers--as investors anticipate heightened geopolitical risk following the U.S. defenestration of Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro. Lockheed Martin gains 1.1% premarket, with futures for General Dynamics and Northrop Grumman climbing 1.3% and 0.9%, respectively. RTX gains 0.5% premarket following the weekend's events. Beyond international sales, the biggest implications following Maduro's deposition will be the cost of funding the U.S. navy's forward operations and the response from U.S. allies, Jefferies analysts Sheila Kahyaoglu and Greg Konrad write in a note.
