Chinese companies hold the most number of patents for physical artificial intelligence worldwide, Nikkei Asia reported Friday, citing a study by Nikkei Business Publications.
Baidu (HKG:9888), Huawei, and Tencent (HKG:0700) dominated the top three in Nikkei's scoreboard by company, while Ping An Insurance (HKG:2318, SHA:601318) held sixth place, the report said.
In terms of patent quality, the Chinese firms trailed behind Intel, Nvidia, and Alphabet, according to the newspaper.
However, Huawei's quality is reaching the level of its U.S. counterparts, according to the analysis.
