French President Emmanuel Macron called for an immediate moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, whether related to water or to energy in the Middle East. Macron said in a separate post that India and France were working closely together to "reduce tensions in the region and to keep diplomacy at the heart of our efforts for peace."
"It is time to open a path towards de-escalation in order to restore stability in the Middle East," Macron said on X. France has deployed the Charles de Gaulle aircraft-carrier battle group, eight frigates and two amphibious helicopter carriers in the eastern Mediterranean, in the Red Sea and off the Strait of Hormuz.
