Oil Isn't Too Far From Its 2022 Peak -- WSJ

Dow Jones03-19 19:07

By Caitlin McCabe

Strikes on energy infrastructure in the Middle East sent Brent crude futures surging as high $119.13 a barrel Thursday. They later pared some gains but hovered around $115. That's a far cry from the level of about $61 a barrel where they started the year.

Brent is now approaching its 2022 peak, which it hit in March of that year shortly after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The real milestone to watch: Brent's record settlement high of $146.08, reached in July 2008, when energy markets suffered a price shock driven partially by mismatched supply and demand.
