Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told President Trump she believes he is the "only one" who can bring peace to the world amid what she described as a "very severe security situation" in the Middle East.
Takaichi, who has developed a close relationship with Trump since her election and his visit to Japan last year, said she agreed that Iran must not have a nuclear weapon, and acknowledged that the global economy will take a hit because of the war.
"I believe that it is only you, Donald, who can achieve peace across the world, and to do so, I am ready to reach out to many of the partners in the international community to achieve our objective together," Takaichi said in the Oval Office on Thursday. She said Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi recently spoke with his counterpart in Iran and urged him to stop attacks in the region.
