Dow Jones03-19 23:08

By Natasha Dangoor and Zvi Smith

Israel said its jet fighters had struck key Iranian Navy infrastructure in the Caspian Sea Wednesday, for the first time since the war began. Israel said it hit targets at an Iranian naval port and base facilities where dozens of military vessels, including missile ships and guard boats, were stationed.

Iran used the port to advance ongoing operational activity, according to the Israeli military, who said the missile ships targeted had aerial surveillance systems and additional anti-submarine missiles. The Caspian Sea, the world's largest inland body of water, is bordered by Iran to its south and west.
