U.K. Inflation Could Reach 4% Later in 2026, Oxford Economics -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-20 20:58

1258 GMT - U.K. inflation is forecast to climb to 4% later in the year, driven by high energy costs from the Middle East war, Oxford Economics' Edward Allenby says in a note. Elevated energy prices are likely to reduce U.K. households' spending power and lead to weaker economic growth, Allenby says. Oxford Economics therefore now projects GDP growth of 0.4% this year and 1% next year, compared to its February baseline of 0.9% in 2026 and 1.3% in 2027, respectively, he says.
