Israel struck a Syrian command center and weapons supplies in retaliation for attacks by the Damascus government on members of the Druze religious minority, the Israeli military said Friday morning.
A pro-Israel Druze paramilitary force, the National Guard Command of Sweida, accused the interim Syrian government of killing seven Druze and wounding four others in missile and drone attacks in southern Syria. Israel's 150,000-strong Druze community is well represented in the military, and the Israeli government periodically intervenes on behalf of their kin on the Syrian side of the border.
