U.S. Stocks Fall As Fighting Continues -- Market Talk
Dow Jones04:07
1607 ET - Major U.S. stock indexes fall for the fourth straight week as the war in the Middle East shows no signs of winding down. The U.S. sends additional Marines to the region and Iran's new supreme leader declares that "safety must be taken away" from the country's enemies. Volume surged late in the session on a quadruple witching day, when stock-index futures, stock index options, single stock options, and single stock futures all expire. DJIA falls 443 points, or 1%, to 45577, the S&P 500 loses 1.5% to 6506 and the Nasdaq drops 2% to 21647. (patrick.sullivan@wsj.com)
