That's how much a gallon of unleaded gasoline now costs on average in the U.S.-an increase of 93 cents since the start of the Iran war on Feb. 28, according to AAA.
-- In California, gas costs an average of $5.66 per gallon, and prices are also above $5 per gallon on average in Washington and Hawaii.
-- Drivers in the Midwest and South are seeing comparatively lower prices. No state currently has a lower average cost per gallon than Kansas, at $3.26.
-- On-highway diesel prices also continue to climb. A gallon of diesel costs an average of $5.16 in the U.S., a burden for truckers, retailers and manufacturers.
