在周一下跌逾7%之后，布伦特原油价格周二上涨，有关再次对伊朗发动军事袭击的报道，使德黑兰和华盛顿之间重新开放霍尔木兹海峡的临时协议前景蒙上阴影。
布伦特原油期货上涨至每桶98美元附近，而WTI原油价格在每桶91美元之上。据报道，美军对伊朗境内的导弹发射场以及试图布设水雷的船只实施了打击。据半官方的法尔斯通讯社报道，霍尔木兹海峡附近，靠近伊朗沿海城市锡里克和贾斯克一带，传来巨大的爆炸声。目前，“认为能够达成和平协议还为时尚早，更不用说遵守协议了。”MST Marquee高级能源分析师Saul Kavonic表示，“过去几个月里，双方都声称谈判取得了成功，或者海峡已经开放，但最终都未能实现。”
美国和伊朗一直在谈判一项协议，以将使停火期限延长约两个月，美国将解除封锁，德黑兰将重新开放霍尔木兹海峡。
7月结算的布伦特原油期货上涨1.7%，至每桶97.76美元。7月交割的WTI原油期货报91.52美元，比上周五的收盘价低5.3%；由于周一是美国假日，当日没有进行结算。
