Higher Volatility Requires Municipal Bond Issuers to Be Nimble -- Market Talk
Dow Jones00:34
1234 ET - Municipal bond issuers need to be flexible in times of heightened volatility driven by unforeseeable federal policy changes, Huntington's Samantha Costanzo says. Local authorities typically start the bond-selling process around three months before pricing the securities, according to Costanzo, but they'd better start earlier and be ready to tap the market only when the prevailing sentiment is favorable. "Just start a month or two months ahead of when you normally would, so that you're in a position earlier to be able to access the market --and if the market isn't there for you, you can delay," she says.
