Eli Lilly Likely to See More Momentum in GLP-1 Pipeline, UBS Says

MT Newswires Live01:29

Eli Lilly (LLY) could see further momentum from positive amylin and tirzepatide data supporting its GLP-1 pipeline momentum, UBS said in a note Wednesday.

The note said phase 1b data showed the combination delivered 25.5% weight loss at 24 weeks, and 29% weight loss at 32 weeks in a small patient group, following prior eloralintide monotherapy data showing 20% weight loss. Eloralintide is a selective amylin receptor agonist in development.

"This is a good read-through to the upcoming Phase II data which we think will be presented at obesity week this year (Nov 14-17) and the title will be released in October," the report said.

If phase 2 data confirms 25% to 30% weight loss, eloralintide could become the second obesity drug after retatrutide to reach that level of efficacy, while potentially offering better tolerability than retatrutide and tirzepatide, the report added.

"This coincides with our thesis that LLY's incretin portfolio taken together offers many options for patients," the note said.

UBS has a buy rating and a $1,425 price target.
