Tuesday 8/11
The National Association of Realtors reports existing-home sales for July. Consensus estimate is for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.05 million homes sold, slightly less than in June. The median price of an existing home hit a record high of $440,600 in June.
Wednesday 8/12
The Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the consumer price index for July. Economists forecast a 3.4% year-over-year increase, one-tenth of a percentage point less than in June. The core CPI is expected to rise 2.5%, compared with 2.6% previously. It was last at or below the Federal Reserve's 2% inflation target in March of 2021.
Cisco Systems announces earnings on Wednesday, followed by Applied Materials on Thursday.
Friday 8/14
The Census Bureau reports retail and food service sales for July. The Consensus call is for a 0.2% month-over-month increase, matching the June figure.
The University of Michigan releases its Consumer Sentiment index for August. Consensus estimate is for a 54.1 reading, about one point less than in July. Consumer expectations for the year ahead inflation was 4.2% in July.
