Trump: NYC pied-à-terre tax driving residents away, destroying city

Trump's Truth Social latest posts08-11

President Donald Trump on August 11 criticized New York City's pied-à-terre tax, claiming it is costing the city and state a fortune while driving tens of thousands of taxpayers to flee to Florida, Texas and other states.

"The NYC Pied-a-Terre Tax is costing New York City and State a fortune in that the money, eventually to be gotten, is very little compared to to the TAXES PAID by the tens of thousands of people who are fleeing the City, never to return," Trump wrote on X. He added that Florida, Texas and numerous other states are "making an absolute fortune" from the exodus.

Trump called the tax a "dangerous political 'experiment'" that will destroy what was once a great city and state. "It is pure Amateur Hour, and it's hard, as President of the United States of America, to sit back and watch it happen, especially to a place I once loved," he said. He predicted "Financial, and then Social, RUIN" as a certainty, and noted that "Radical Left Jihadists charge Congestion Pricing on top of everything else."

The President said he is examining whether the federal government has any legal right to avert what he described as a disaster "before it is too late, for the millions of people who cherish New York and want to see it thrive." He concluded his post with "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
