Market Chatter: Meta Platforms to Sell Manus Stake to Tencent

MT Newswires Live08-14 02:07

Meta Platforms (META) will sell its stake in Manus to Tencent Holdings, making the technology conglomerate the largest shareholder of the Chinese AI developer, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday.

The sale follows Beijing's efforts to keep Manus under domestic control after Meta bought the AI company in December for a reported $2 billion, Nikkei Asia said.

The Tencent deal is expected to be worth roughly what Meta originally paid, the report said.

Tencent, Manus, and Meta didn't immediately reply to request for comments from MT Newswires.
