President Donald Trump on August 13 announced his endorsement of Peter Oberacker, a Republican candidate running for New York's 19th Congressional District, in a post on X. Trump described Oberacker as an "incredible Candidate" and contrasted him with Democratic opponent Josh Riley, whom he labeled a "Radical Left Extremist."
Trump accused Riley of supporting open borders, allowing men to compete in women's sports, transgender rights, defunding the police, and abolishing the Second Amendment. He also claimed that Riley voted against the "Biggest Tax Cut in History" and fought to eliminate rural healthcare. "He represented Sleepy Joe Biden as his Counsel, in the White House. How did that work out?" Trump wrote, adding that Riley is "totally controlled by the Radical Left who have only one goal in mind, DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY!"
In contrast, Trump praised Oberacker, a state senator and businessman, as a "very successful 'Meat Market' Businessman, Dedicated Public Servant" with a career "loaded up with accolades and wins." He pledged that Oberacker would work to grow the economy, cut taxes, enhance energy dominance, secure the border, stop migrant crime, uphold law and order, support the military and veterans, advance election integrity, and protect the Second Amendment. "Peter Oberacker has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from New York's 19th Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!" Trump concluded.
