President Donald Trump on August 13 took to social media platform X to announce his endorsement of Mike LiPetri, a Republican candidate for New York's 3rd Congressional District. Trump described LiPetri as a "MAGA Warrior" and sharply criticized the current Representative, Tom Suozzi, calling him a "Radical Left Lunatic" who supports open borders, transgender rights, defunding the police, and gun control.
Trump specifically cited Suozzi's vote against the 2017 tax cuts, including the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, and made reference to a New York Post article reporting that Suozzi's stock portfolio outperformed Nancy Pelosi's with a 35% return. "Using Insider Information that only a Congressman would have, he scandalously made a lot of money playing with Stocks," Trump wrote. The President added that Suozzi "should be banned from Congress, not running for it."
In contrast, Trump highlighted LiPetri's background as a successful attorney and former New York State Assemblyman, saying he has dedicated his life to serving the community. Trump outlined a list of LiPetri's policy priorities, including growing the economy, achieving energy dominance, cutting taxes, securing the border, supporting the military and police, and defending the Second Amendment. "Mike LiPetri has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from New York’s 3rd Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!" Trump concluded.
