Japan's manufacturing activity expanded in August, according to preliminary data from S&P Global published Friday.
The seasonally adjusted S&P Global Flash Japan Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 55.1, compared with 54.5 from the previous month.
Manufacturers logged the sharpest jump in new work and exports since the start of 2018.
