Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Friday as investors weighed renewed gains in U.S. Treasury yields against elevated oil prices and persistent inflation concerns.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.4%, or 109.12 points, to open at 25,807.61, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.4%, or 31.80 points, to open at 8,579.64.
Wall Street ended lower overnight, with the S&P 500 down 0.9% and the Nasdaq down 1%, as rising Treasury yields weighed on equities.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington could impose its toughest-ever sanctions on Iran, reinforcing concerns over prolonged tensions and uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
Brent crude rose to a one-month high of $94.71 before easing, keeping inflation risks in focus.
