GM Korea, the South Korean unit of General Motors Co., reported a 9.4% year-over-year rise in August sales to 23,042 units, driven by strong overseas demand for its Chevrolet models, Yonhap reported Tuesday.
The automaker said exports increased 12.4% to 22,311 vehicles, offsetting a 39.4% decline in domestic sales to 731 units. Overall sales increased despite fewer working days during the summer holiday period and facility construction.
For the January-August period, sales rose 12.6% to 340,684 vehicles. Exports increased 14.3% to 333,916 units, while domestic sales fell 35.9% to 6,768 units, the report said.
