Bank of China Issues 40 Billion Yuan Bonds to Boost Loss-Absorbing Capacity

Bank of China (SHA:601988, HKG:3988) issued non-capital bonds amounting to 40 billion yuan, according to a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing.

The issuance comprises 20 billion yuan of four-year bonds with a 1.69% coupon and 20 billion yuan of six-year bonds with a 1.79% coupon. The bank has a conditional redemption right at the end of the third and fifth years, respectively.

Net proceeds will be used to improve the bank's total loss-absorbing capacity, subject to regulatory approval.
