Hong Kong Stocks Open Higher as Wall Street Rally Boosts Sentiment

MT Newswires Live09-18 09:36

Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Friday as a rebound in global equities and easing U.S. Treasury yields supported investor sentiment.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.5%, or 119.56 points, to open at 24,723.85, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.3%, or 27.42 points, to 8,202.78.

U.S. stocks rallied on Thursday, breaking a three-session losing streak.

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield fell 6.55 basis points to 4.939%, while the two-year yield dropped 5.65 basis points to 4.671%, reversing part of the rise following the Fed's rate decision.

Markets were also looking ahead to the Bank of Japan's policy decision on Friday, with the central bank widely expected to raise interest rates.
