Banks are delaying plans to sell part of a $15 billion loan for an Anthropic-linked Texas data center after the state paused new projects to assess power-grid risks, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Lenders had planned to sell $5 billion to $7 billion of bonds in September, but the sales may now be staggered over the next year, the report said. Nexus Data Centers is developing the project, which is leased to Anthropic and backed by Alphabet's Google.
The delay leaves banks holding the funded loan longer as Texas reviews data centers' impact on power and water resources, Bloomberg said.
Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
