It has long dreamed of building cars.</p><p>In 2014, Terry Gou launched an electric vehicle project code-named \"A-Fu Initiative\". The company is re-pushing the development of electric vehicles.</p><p>Will it be more successful this time around?</p><p><b>An electric car is an iPhone with four wheels</b></p><p>Liu Yangwei, who succeeded Terry Gou two years ago, promised that by 2025, 5% of the world's electric vehicles will feature Foxconn designs, components, mechanical parts or software.</p><p>But the company's ambitions don't stop there.</p><p>It has announced plans to build factories in the United States and Thailand to assemble complete vehicles, and is siting in Europe for automobile manufacturing.</p><p>At the same time, Foxconn has changed its role to an advocate of electric vehicles, developing new technologies and setting new standards for electric vehicles to challenge traditional automakers.</p><p>On the one hand, Foxconn's electric vehicle progress bar is accelerating, while on the other hand, the profits of consumer electronics products are declining.</p><p>In 2020, Foxconn's sales grew just 0.3%, and its net income has been shrinking since 2017. But South Korean giant LG Electronics has been deepening its relationship with Magna.
