I'd argue that the popular e-commerce company has a much greater long-term opportunity than AMC does, though.</p>\n<p>First of all, Etsy practically owns the niche online market in personalized handcrafted goods. Others have attempted to beat the company on its own turf but have failed. There are still significant growth opportunities in this $250 billion annual market.</p>\n<p>However, the pandemic showed Etsy more than ever that it can compete in a larger arena. The company now thinks that its total addressable market is close to $1.7 trillion.</p>\n<p>One way that Etsy is going after this expanded market is through acquisitions. Most recently, the company announced plans to acquire Depop for $1.6 billion, a move that vaults Etsy into the clothing resale business.</p>\n<p>I think that Etsy is a stock that could be a 10-bagger over the long run. The odds of AMC having that level of gains going forward are slim.</p>\n<h2>Innovative Industrial Properties</h2>\n<p>Speaking of big market opportunities, the U.S. medical cannabis market is growing by leaps and bounds. So far, 36 states have legalized medical cannabis.&nbsp;<b>Innovative Industrial Properties</b> (NYSE:IIPR) stands out as a key beneficiary from this growth.</p>\n<p>The company is the leading real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on the medical cannabis industry. IIP's forte is sale-leaseback transactions. In these deals, the REIT buys properties from cannabis operators. The operators then lease the properties back with a long-term lease agreement.</p>\n<p>Over the last three years, IIP's revenue has soared 1,300%. Its profits have skyrocketed more than 2,200%. Investors have also made even more money from the company's dividends.</p>\n<p>IIP currently owns 72 properties in 18 states. It should be able to continue growing briskly by making more sale-leaseback deals in those states (which include several of the biggest medical cannabis markets in the U.S.) as well as expanding into additional states.</p>\n<h2>Intuitive Surgical</h2>\n<p>I recently wrote about my top stock to buy in June. My pick was robotic surgical systems pioneer <b>Intuitive Surgical</b> (NASDAQ:ISRG).</p>\n<p>Like AMC, Intuitive Surgical is a reopening play. Just as the COVID-19 pandemic shut down theaters, it also significantly impacted the volumes of non-emergency surgical procedures. Intuitive generates most of its revenue from selling replacement instruments and accessories for its da Vinci robotic surgical systems. Lower numbers of procedures meant lower revenue for the company.</p>\n<p>Prior to the pandemic, the number of movie tickets sold was declining. That's a not-so-great trend for AMC that could rear its ugly head again after a rebound in 2021 and 2022. Intuitive's procedure volume, though, has risen steadily for quite a while. Even with the pandemic, procedures still increased 1% year over year in 2020.</p>\n<p>Intuitive's long-term prospects are the main reason why I like this stock, though. The company has a huge growth opportunity targeting the procedures where it already has regulatory clearances. Even better, Intuitive thinks that it can more than triple its current addressable market by launching new products and securing additional regulatory clearances.</p>\n<p>Sure, Intuitive Surgical is already a big company with a market cap of over $100 billion. Although other investment vehicles, such as bonds or gold, have had superior performances for short stretches of time, no asset class has delivered better average annual returns than stocks over the long run.</p>\n<p>However, the emergence of cryptocurrencies is changing this mode of thinking. After watching <b>Bitcoin</b> (CRYPTO:BTC) rise from $1 to $40,000 in a little over a decade, and seeing <b>Dogecoin</b> (CRYPTO:DOGE) gallop higher by 27,000% in a six-month span, investors are feeling compelled to chase the momentum in the crypto space.</p>\n<p>Unfortunately, this could prove to be a huge mistake.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/e84aa34310d37f1ab30212f9dcf1bf0d\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>The cryptocurrency bubble is eventually going to burst</h2>\n<p>While there's no denying that cryptocurrency has delivered some game-changing returns, most of this upside has been built on unsubstantiated hype. In other words, some folks view tokens like Bitcoin and Dogecoin as the future global currencies, but virtually nothing has suggested that this will come to fruition.</p>\n<p>The reality is that digital currencies are virtually useless outside of a cryptocurrency exchange. Bitcoin has been stuck handling 250,000 to 300,000 transactions daily for years, while Dogecoin has been averaging closer to 30,000 daily transactions of late. For comparison's sake, payment-processing giants <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/V\">Visa</a></b>&nbsp;and <b>Mastercard</b>&nbsp;handled 700 million transactions daily on a combined basis in 2018.</p>\n<p>To build on this point, Fundera estimated earlier this year that only around 15,200 businesses worldwide accepted Bitcoin. Meanwhile, online business directory Cryptwerk finds that Dogecoin is accepted by 1,400 companies. For context, there are more than 32 million businesses in the U.S., and an estimated 582 million entrepreneurs worldwide. There simply isn't the broad-based adoption that's being hyped by cryptocurrency supporters.</p>\n<p>At the same time, blockchain technology is caught in a Catch-22. Blockchain being the transparent and immutable underlying ledger of digital currencies that logs transactions. No business is willing to abandon time-tested infrastructure in favor of blockchain until it's demonstrated that blockchain can be scaled in the real world. At the same time, there won't be any evidence that blockchain is revolutionary if no businesses are willing to be an early stage guinea pig, so to speak.</p>\n<p>History unequivocally shows that all bubbles eventually burst, without exception. That's the fate awaiting cryptocurrencies.</p>\n<h2>Dump digital currencies in favor of this fast-growing trio</h2>\n<p>Rather than put your money to work in an asset class that's being driven by hype and emotion, my suggestion would be to buy the following trio of supercharged stocks. If you buy stakes in innovative businesses whose products and services have growing real-world application, and you hold these stakes for long periods of time, you'll very likely get rich.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/16ca48e46c5ed915bdfaeb115d44e553\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"467\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Etsy</h2>\n<p>To begin with, e-commerce platform <b>Etsy</b> (NASDAQ:ETSY) will have long-term investors forgetting all about the volatility and hype associated with digital currencies.</p>\n<p>To state the obvious, Etsy was a clear winner of the coronavirus pandemic. With people stuck in their homes, many turned online to buy basic-need and discretionary goods. For Etsy, this included a healthy uptick in sales from facial coverings. But the Etsy platform has <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> key advantage that not even <b>Amazon</b>&nbsp;looks to be a threat to: personalization.</p>\n<p>Etsy's platform is built on the idea of putting customers in contact with small merchants who can, if needed, customize their order. Etsy's collection of merchants focuses on personal engagement and uniqueness that shoppers simply won't find on bigger e-commerce platforms. The proof is in the pudding that Etsy's platform is resonating with shoppers. Habitual buyer spending -- those who purchased at least six separate times totaling more than $200, in aggregate, over the trailing year -- has been rocketing higher. Habitual buyers spent 205% more in the first quarter of 2021 than they did in the prior-year quarter.</p>\n<p>Since Etsy generates the bulk of its revenue from merchant ads, the company has also been aggressively reinvesting in its platform to streamline searches and keep users engaged. In other words, some folks view tokens like Bitcoin and Dogecoin as the future global currencies, but virtually nothing has suggested that this will come to fruition.\nThe reality is that digital currencies are virtually useless outside of a cryptocurrency exchange. Bitcoin has been stuck handling 250,000 to 300,000 transactions daily for years, while Dogecoin has been averaging closer to 30,000 daily transactions of late. For comparison's sake, payment-processing giants Visa and Mastercard handled 700 million transactions daily on a combined basis in 2018.\nTo build on this point, Fundera estimated earlier this year that only around 15,200 businesses worldwide accepted Bitcoin. Meanwhile, online business directory Cryptwerk finds that Dogecoin is accepted by 1,400 companies. For context, there are more than 32 million businesses in the U.S., and an estimated 582 million entrepreneurs worldwide. There simply isn't the broad-based adoption that's being hyped by cryptocurrency supporters.\nAt the same time, blockchain technology is caught in a Catch-22. Blockchain being the transparent and immutable underlying ledger of digital currencies that logs transactions. No business is willing to abandon time-tested infrastructure in favor of blockchain until it's demonstrated that blockchain can be scaled in the real world. At the same time, there won't be any evidence that blockchain is revolutionary if no businesses are willing to be an early stage guinea pig, so to speak.\nHistory unequivocally shows that all bubbles eventually burst, without exception. That's the fate awaiting cryptocurrencies.\nDump digital currencies in favor of this fast-growing trio\nRather than put your money to work in an asset class that's being driven by hype and emotion, my suggestion would be to buy the following trio of supercharged stocks. dollar clings on to gains</p>\n<p>* Gold gains ground, oil drops</p>\n<p>SHANGHAI, June 18 (Reuters) - Asian shares extended losses and the dollar crept up to near two-month highs on Friday after the U.S. Federal Reserve this week projected higher interest rates in 2023.</p>\n<p>While the Fed indicated no clear end to supportive policy measures such as bond buying, signals of faster-than-expected rate hikes underscored its inflation concerns as the U.S. economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>\n<p>\"It's a difficult call, but I think what is pretty obvious is that the inflation genie is starting to sneak out of the bottle, and that will be a major driver of interest rates in the short to medium term,\" said James McGlew, executive director of corporate stockbroking at Argonaut in Perth.</p>\n<p>European stock futures pointed to small declines at the open, with pan-region Euro Stoxx 50 futures down 0.02%, DAX futures falling 0.06%, FTSE futures inching 0.01% lower, and CAC 40 futures easing 0.02%.</p>\n<p>In afternoon trade in Asia, MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was off 0.1%, erasing earlier gains to extend declines into a fifth session.</p>\n<p>Chinese blue-chip A-shares swung between gains and losses before ending flat, while Taiwan shares lost 0.41%. Japan's Nikkei fell 0.19%.</p>\n<p>Gold prices, which plunged following the Fed comments on Wednesday, edged higher but were still set for their worst week since March 2020. Spot gold was last up 0.65% at $1,784.90 per ounce.</p>\n<p>Adding to indications of a continued rebound in the world's largest economy, new U.S. data on Thursday showed growing factory activity and an easing in layoffs despite an unexpected rise in weekly jobless claims.</p>\n<p>Hopes for a strong U.S. recovery pushed technology stocks higher on Thursday, lifting the Nasdaq Composite up 0.87%. But worries about inflation and higher rates weighed on the broader market, with the S&amp;P 500 edging down 0.04%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.62%.</p>\n<p>\"The Fed for a long time was sending a very strong signal that they were prioritising the labour market, and they want this broad, inclusive recovery and healing of the labour market and they're going to run the economy red-hot to get there,\" said Richard Franulovich, head of FX strategy at Westpac.</p>\n<p>\"Now ... (inflation) is more of a priority. So that's the big wake-up call for markets. A very big wake up call.\"</p>\n<p>U.S. Treasury yields, which had jumped on the rate hike projections, turned lower on Friday afternoon. Benchmark 10-year yields stood at 1.5005%, down from a close of 1.511% on Thursday.</p>\n<p>The 30-year bond yield slid to 2.0859% from 2.101%.</p>\n<p>The dollar index nevertheless climbed 0.11% to 91.981, not far off Thursday's more than two-month peak of 92.010 following the Fed meeting. The dollar pulled back against the yen to 110.03 , and the euro softened 0.08% to 1.1900.</p>\n<p>Oil prices took a hit from the strong dollar as concerns over demand and new Iranian supply also weighed.</p>\n<p>Global benchmark Brent crude was down 0.53% at $72.69 a barrel after settling at its highest price since April 2019 on Wednesday. During the period, NIO has also improved its bottom-line performance, as its net loss was only $68.8 million, and despite the chip shortages and the Chinese New Year its deliveries have also increased by 422.7% Y/Y and by 15.6% Q/Q to 20,060.</p>\n<p>One of the best things about NIO is that it already has a dominant position in the Chinese EV industry and it also has a solid balance sheet, as its cash reserves at the end of Q1stoodat $7.2 billion, while it had only $1.59 billion in long-term debt. However, there are several reasons to believe that the ES8 is a more attractive car in comparison to the Model X, and as a result, NIO has all the opportunities to outsell its competitor in China in the long run. First of all, the ES8 has more legroom and headroom than the Model X, it also has a luxurious interior, and it comes with three different battery packages that could last from 415 kilometers to 580 kilometers on a single charge.</p>\n<p>All of the ES8 SUVs include a proprietary operating system, have advanced navigation software, and most importantly cost ~$70,000 per vehicle in China, which is below the cost of Tesla's Model X, which comes at a price tag of ~$110,000 per vehicle in the region. We believe that this pricing advantage will undoubtedly help NIO to outsell Tesla in the SUV segment, especially since its cars now could bepurchasedat a discount thanks to the new Chinese subsidy program.</p>\n<p>Another uniqueness of NIO is its battery as a service business model, which allows its customers to swap their batteries in various swapping stations around China if they don't want to charge their cars or are in a hurry. After recently deploying the second version of its Power Swap stations, the swapping of batteries is now done in under three minutes, which is the same as refueling a traditional ICE car, and a single station now could perform up to 312 battery swaps in a single day. NIO now has a network of charging stations across all of China and if the solid-state batteries won't be available by the end of the decade at scale, then the idea of swapping batteries on the go will remain a viable business model in the long run.</p>\n<p>Going forward, NIO plans to accelerate its deliveries this month in order to meet its Q2 goal of delivering 21,000 to 22,000 vehicles, which represents a growth of 103% Y/Y to 113% Y/Y and plans to generate $1.24 to $1.29 billion in revenues during the period. Despite the semiconductor shortages, NIO already managed to increase its deliveries in April and May to 7,102 vehicles and 6,711 vehicles, respectively, which represents a growth of 125% Y/Y and 95.3% Y/Y, respectively. On top of that, NIO is also on track to deliver 90,000 to 100,000 vehicles this year.</p>\n<p>Considering this, there's every reason to believe that NIO will continue to be a dominant player in the Chinese EV market and a leader of the luxury EV segment in the region. While the company doesn't have an infrastructure outside China, we don't think that's a downside at all since China is the biggest EV market in the world that's constantly growing and NIO has better chances of creating shareholder value there than abroad. After recently deploying the second version of its Power Swap stations, the swapping of batteries is now done in under three minutes, which is the same as refueling a traditional ICE car, and a single station now could perform up to 312 battery swaps in a single day.
