F & GM Continue To Be Benefitted From Partnership With Tesla
@WallStreet_Tiger:$General Motors(GM)$ , $Ford(F)$ , and $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ are reportedly collaborating to establish a fast-charging network for electric vehicles (EVs) across the United States. The goal of this collaboration is to ensure that more than 60% of electric vehicles currently on American roads have access to Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS). Benefitted by the collaboration, $Ford(F)$ and $General Motors(GM)$ also took a rally in the past month. $Ford(F)$ The opening of $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$'s superchargers may prove to be Ford's tailwinds, significantly aided by the latter's diversified strategy across sedan/truck/commercial EVs. While it remains to be seen if Ford may achieve its ambitious 2023 production targets, it has taken great steps to strengthen its lithium supply for over 3M EVs. Combined with its high-margin and high-growth BlueCruise, we may see Ford's top and bottom lines recover from these depressed levels as more embrace its EV and SaaS offerings. $General Motors(GM)$ Similar to Ford, GM will also begin installing Tesla's charging port, known as NACS (North American Charging Standard), in its electric vehicles starting in 2025. This means GM vehicles will use NACS instead of the industry-standard CCS (Combined Charging System). GM vehicles will be able to access Tesla's fast chargers using an adapter and GM's EV charging app, starting next year. This will grant GM customers access to approximately 12,000 of Tesla's fast chargers. GM's CEO, Mary Barra, mentioned that this partnership will result in cost savings. By leveraging the deal, GM expects to save up to $400 million of the previously announced $750 million investment dedicated to building out EV charging infrastructure. Wall Street analysts reacted positively to the Tesla-Ford deal and anticipate similar benefits for $Ford(F)$ , $General Motors(GM)$ and $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ . The partnership is expected to significantly increase access to fast chargers for GM and Ford customers and enhance the usage of Tesla's charging network.
