Here’s something to think about! In 2014 NVIDIA was spending more on software engineering than it was on HW engineering! Adjusted for inflation they were spending nearly 10x what AMD spends on SW today.

So you see, AMD can’t simply repurpose silicon to gain share as it did with DC CPU’s because it needs specialized tooling to make it a viable solution.

What’s more worrisome for AMD and its investors is that the DC share they gained (a tiny amount) won’t last or they’ll be spending most of their time trying to defend it. Intel is going after their margins!

So never mind that GPU’s are NOT the future of AI and that AMD has inferior software and developer tools (a decade behind) but AMD won’t even have the income to support such an effort.

Moreover Intel is coming for dGPU’s. All of that will cripple AMD’s ability to compete even more! The next 4 years will be quite the test for Su. We’ve known her since her TI and Freescale years and know with good authority she ain’t no visionary and not much of a technical leader! She won’t last…mark these words!

She’ll be out before 2027 as AMD regresses in the face of competition!
