The EV market today is dominated by Chinese companies like BYD. While Tesla is facing ever growing competition by traditional car companies like Ford and new EV companies like Nio and BYD, there are still two factors to consider when determining the fate of Tesla.
1. Tesla supercharger network. It is easy to dismiss the infrastructure that Tesla is building because we don't see it in our country. But in the US, the Tesla supercharger network is huge and definitely part of the purchase decision of EV buyers.
2. Tesla as an AI company. There's no doubt that AI has taken over the world by storm. With the launch of ChatGPT, the world in 2023 is no longer the same. As far as self driving is concerned, Tesla is one of the many pioneers in the space. And with all AI applications, training data and training time is king. There is no doubt Tesla has a headstart for this and it will continue pushing its lead in this area. While it is still uncertain if full self driving will take the world by storm like ChatGPT would, it would be a shame to let this opportunity pass.
