Don’t let anyone fool you that $TSLA stock has done well since Elon announced he would acquire Twitter in April 2022. $TSLA has been by far the worst performer of the Mag 7 since then, dropping from $328 to its current level of $235 (TSLA -28% vs NDX +15%; $AMZN next worst -3%). One has to measure performance from when Elon announced he was buying Twitter (4/14/2022) because he started selling TSLA shares soon thereafter ($15B of sales between April-Aug 2022; $23B in total sales during 2022).
One can’t compare $TSLA to other EV stocks because none of them make money and most are headed toward bankruptcy. In addition to the Twitter purchase, $TSLA stock has also been hurt by TSLA mgmt’s decision to cut EV prices by an avg -18% YoY, which has generated almost no change in volume griwtj (2023 TSLA vol est still 1.8M, unch’d from before the price cuts), and caused 2024 earnings estimates to collapse by -43% YoY. $特斯拉(TSLA)$
