Top News Move the Market More News Weekly Hot Stocks ⭐For The Daily Most Active Stocks in S&P 500 & The Top 10 Popular Stcocks on WallStreetBets please turn to @TigerObserver Global Markets Weekly Update The S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite and Dow Jones Industrial Average posted gains for a seventh straight week, marking the S&P 500's longest winning streak since 2017, Reuters reported. The gains pushed the top two benchmarks to 52-week highs, with the Dow also hitting a record high. Continuing a recent pattern, gains this week were also broad-based. The equally weighted index of S&P 500 stocks outperforms the market-weighted index by 131 basis points (1.31 percentage points). Small-cap stocks also performed well, with the Russell 2000 index up 5.55%, moving out of bear market territory (down 20% or more) for the first time in more than 20 months. Stocks posted their biggest gains of the week following Wednesday's report, which also coincides with the Federal Reserve's final policy meeting of the year. Officials kept rates on hold as expected, but a quarterly "dot plot" summarizing individual policymakers' rate expectations showed the median forecast was for a 75 basis point cut in 2024, up from a previous forecast of 50 basis points of easing. Investors also appeared to be encouraged by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's post-meeting press conference, which did not appear to push back on futures markets pricing in a steep rate cut next year.
