1. Whether Tesla remains a good investment depends upon a couple of things:

1. Will battery technology improve enough to make the driving range of electric cars competitive with gasoline powered cars?

2. Can electric cars remain competitive when government subsidies end?

3. Can electric cars compete on price with gasoline powered cars?

 4. Can technology be developed to decrease charging time to compete with filling up at the gas pumps? So, in short: Driving range, ability to survive without government help, price and cost to operate, and time it takes to refuel are all factors that will affect the viability of electric cars.
