Interview with Success88 | How Does He Diversify Holdings with TSLA, TSM and Rolex?

@TigerClub
Hi Tigers, Welcome to our Interview with @Success88. Twenty years ago, he believed that gold could effectively hedge against inflation, so he gradually bought several kilograms of gold, earning nearly a 300% return! He works in the semiconductor industry and currently favors the performance of $Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ . He believes $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ is overhyped, while TSMC, which provides chips to Nvidia, still has a reasonable valuation. Additionally, he has successfully bought low and sold high on $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ several times, earning good profits. He believes that if Trump is re-elected as President of the United States, Tesla will surge again! 1. Could you share your investment journey with us? Early Career and Investment Start: After graduation, I joined ST Microelectronics as an assistant engineer. A few years later, I moved to Chartered Semiconductor, which was a leading global wafer foundry at the time. During Chartered Semiconductor's golden period, due to my limited understanding of the stock market and concerns about potential downturns, I missed the opportunity to invest in the company. My initial investment experiences focusd on gold and fixed deposits. Fixed Deposits: Their advantages include guaranteed returns, low risk, and simplicity, although their returns are lower compared to stocks. Gold: Considering its historical price appreciation, I believed it was a hedge against inflation and a reliable long-term investment. I remember buying gold at SGD 24 per gram when I was in my teens and continuously buying over the years. Now, I have several kilograms of gold. The current price of gold is over SGD 90 per gram, which means the gold I invested in has appreciated by 295% over twenty years. 2. Why do you use Tiger Trade? Share with us your story with Tiger Trade. At the beginning, a friend introduced me to Tiger Trade, and I started using it for online trading. Later, I found its features very user-friendly, so I recommended it to many of my friends. Reasons for choosing Tiger Brokers: Cost-effectiveness: It has low commissions. Real-time data: Provides access to real-time market information. Simple and convenient: Offers a user-friendly mobile application for trading anytime, anywhere. Community engagement: Allows interaction with other investors to learn potential investment ideas. 3. What are your common investment strategies? My investment strategy is to choose growth stocks with relatively low risks. I also pay attention to stocks that are currently at their lows. I now have a diversified investment portfolio, including various asset classes: fixed deposits, treasury bills, dividend stocks, growth stocks, high risk stocks “just for fun“, health insurance, investment in luxury watches such as Rolex. 4. Why do you like Rolex watches? Which ones have you collected? Owning a Rolex watch has always been a dream of mine since childhood because Rolex is highly regarded in Singapore and has a collectible value. Additionally, recent versions of Rolex watches have been relatively limited in production, increasing their collectible value. For example, the Rolex Submariner Hulk, which was sold for SGD 12,000 in 2017, now sells for SGD 25,000 to 30,000. And even if you have enough money, you may not be able to buy it because it's in high demand, and people are collecting them and don’t want to sell. I currently own three Rolex models. 5. What stocks have you been paying attention to recently? Recently, I'm particularly interested in stocks in the AI field. I am very bullish on $Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ . Although Nvidia is in the AI GPU business, I feel the market has pushed their stock price too high. So I prefer to choose TSMC because they provide chips to Nvidia, and their current valuation is more reasonable. Additionally, I also like bank stocks because Singapore's bank stocks are stable and can provide steady dividend income. The future trend of TSMC depends on the TSMC facility in Arizona, USA, which is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by 2025. At that time, I think there will be another surge. 6. What is your most successful trade? Do you think this trade can be replicated? Of course, it can be replicated. Tesla has been my biggest earner, but now TSMC should have surpassed it 😆 I always buy low and sell high. When I trade, I first look at the previous low point and then look for a lower low, where I set a reminder. If it approaches that point, I observe and then buy. Selling high follows the same principle; I set reminders at Higher Highs. Additionally, I look at RSI data to determine whether it's overbought or oversold. 7. How do you view Tesla’s recent trend? Because other new energy car companies have been reducing prices, it has affected Tesla's sales. Former US President Trump recently met with Musk. I think if Trump is re-elected, $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ will surge. I also have a feeling that Tesla might release a smartphone in the future. Musk has all sorts of imaginative ideas. Releasing a smartphone would be easy for him. 8. How do you view the market trends in 2024? The US presidential election is coming up, so the US stock market will surge. AI stocks are too hot, so don't chase high. I might wait for a dip in AI stocks and then buy on the dip. I am looking forward to 2024 and will continue to hold dividend stocks. If I have extra money, I will invest in value stocks such as bank stocks.
